Zelenskyy provided details on the consequences of the strike on the Borisoglebsk airfield.
The Su-34 bombers, which were struck by a Ukrainian “Neptune” long-range missile at the Russian airfield in Borisoglebsk, were preparing for new strikes against Ukraine.
This was reported by Charter97.org citing Telegram account of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy specified that four Su-34 aircraft were destroyed as a result of the attack, while two more were damaged.
“The Russians were using them to terrorize our people. These very aircraft were ready for new strikes against Ukraine and were loaded with aerial bombs. Our long-range ‘Neptune’ was used against the target,” noted the President of Ukraine.
In addition, ‘Ukrainian long-range strikes’ were carried out against the storage and launch sites of attack drones in the Oryol region. A target in the Black Sea was also struck.
“These are our just responses to all of Russia’s terror against Ukraine. Russia is dragging out the war, which means our long-range operations will continue,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
As a reminder, on the night of October 15, the Ukrainian Navy struck the Russian military airfield “Borisoglebsk” in the Voronezh region. Six Su-34M bombers were destroyed.
The strike was carried out using the “Neptune” coastal missile system.
In addition to the aircraft, equipment supporting flight operations was destroyed. Repeated explosions and a fire were reported on the airfield.
