Pashinyan Reiterated That He Will Never Visit Belarus As Long As Lukashenko Remains In Power

Armenia's prime minister was asked about the Belarusian leader.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan answered a question about his contacts with Lukashenko at the CIS summit in Turkmenistan.

“I want to make it clear that we interact with our international partners in a proper manner—sometimes more, sometimes less,” Pashinyan said.

He also clarified that he had not stated that he would refuse to greet Lukashenko or change his route to avoid meeting him.

“Did I say that I wouldn’t greet him, or that I would take a different route just to avoid meeting him?

I said that we—I and our official delegations—would not travel to Belarus. We didn’t go there,” Pashinyan said.

Pashinyan asked whether even a single official delegation from Armenia had traveled to Belarus after his statement refusing such visits.

In 2024, Nikol Pashinyan stated that neither he nor any other Armenian officials would visit Belarus as long as Alexander Lukashenko remains president there.

“One of the CSTO leaders claims that he participated in the preparations for the 44-day war, encouraged it, believed in it, and wished for Azerbaijan’s victory. And after that, am I supposed to go discuss the issue with Lukashenko within the CSTO framework? Don’t you talk about dignity and principles? I want to state that I will never again visit Belarus as long as Alexander Lukashenko remains in power. And in general, no official representative of Armenia will visit Belarus,” he noted.
