Will the Democrats win the U.S. congressional elections?
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he does not want to deal with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, since, in his view, Zelenskyy is unwilling to negotiate with Russia to end the war. “Zelenskyy isn’t the kind of person we should be dealing with. He doesn’t want to negotiate. He says he wants to negotiate, but that’s not true. No, I’m not a big fan of Zelensky,” Trump said in an interview with Newsmax.
The White House chief also expressed dissatisfaction that Ukraine has resumed strikes on Russian oil refineries (refineries). According to him, this is causing global oil prices to rise. “When you strike refineries that produce diesel fuel—which we and the whole world need—you’re doing the world a disservice. I think it’s simply a disgrace,” Trump said. During the interview, he also acknowledged that he finds it harder to deal with Zelenskyy than with Vladimir Putin.
A week earlier, Trump stated that Ukraine needs to find a new president who can “strike a deal” with Russia. “He [Zelenskyy] could strike many deals, but for some reason he never does. <…> I think it’s time for Ukraine to elect a new president,” said the White House chief.
Following this, the Ukrainian leader declared his readiness to hold presidential elections if Russia agrees to a two-month full ceasefire. According to him, this period is necessary to ensure the security of the campaign.
Experts predict a defeat for the Republican Party in the November 3 congressional elections. Many Republicans are already distancing themselves from Trump due to his actions and statements.
