The car is designed to feature analog gauges instead of huge screens.
Porsche has unveiled the Mission S concept—a mid-engine supercar that sets the direction for the brand’s future design and could serve as the basis for a new model positioned above the 911 in the manufacturer’s lineup. Technical specifications and the release date for the production version have not yet been disclosed, according to Motor1.
The new model’s design combines modern forms with elements from the legendary Porsche 911, 959, 917, and GT1 models. The rear end draws particular attention with its active rear wing and an unusual body design that creates the effect of separate, floating surfaces.
“We wanted the car to be instantly recognizable as a Porsche,” said Michael Leiters, the company’s CEO.
The interior looks just as unusual. Instead of the usual huge central touchscreen, it features five round analog gauges, as well as physical buttons and switches. Digital displays are integrated behind the dials, creating a sense of depth. A retractable smartphone holder with Apple MagSafe support is provided for navigation.
