The U.S. allegedly used this munition during the 12-day war, but part of the bomb failed to detonate.
Iran possesses the technology for the American 14-metric-ton GBU-57 bomb. This was stated by an advisor to the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Mohammad Reza Nakdi, as reported by Tabnak.
According to Nakdi, the U.S. used this munition during the 12-day war, but part of the bomb failed to detonate and ended up in Iran’s possession as a trophy. He referred to the GBU-57 as the American “mother of all bombs” and reported that it weighs 10 metric tons without its warhead.
“The alloys, electronic circuits, and all the technologies of the 14-metric-ton American bomb have now been analyzed, and these technologies are in our hands,” Nakdi stated.
He added that if the U.S. were to use such a bomb against anyone, it should remember where Iran acquired the relevant technology. According to the adviser, only two countries now possess such weapons—Iran and the U.S.
Nakdi’s remarks came at the closing ceremony of the “Jangfeda” military exercises in Mazandaran Province. The exercises lasted several days across 22 counties, involved more than 100,000 people, and the closing ceremony in Sari brought together over 130 units.
