Ukrainian Ballistics Will Make It Possible To Destroy Bunkers And Bridges In Russia

The WSJ revealed details of the first strike.
The new FP-7 ballistic missile places Ukraine among a small group of countries capable of producing such weapons and significantly expands the range of strikes against targets on Russian territory.
The ballistic missile provides Ukraine with ammunition that has greater destructive power than the long-range drones that the Armed Forces have been primarily using in the war against Russia. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The launch of this missile, announced on October 1 by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is further evidence that Ukraine’s defense industry has become one of the most advanced in the world, the article states.
“An arsenal of ballistic missiles gives Ukraine the ability to destroy Russian bunkers, bridges, and buildings that its large fleet of drones would be unlikely to damage significantly,” the WSJ writes.
After launch, ballistic missiles rise very high, often extending beyond the Earth’s atmosphere. They then plummet back down at high speed, making them much more difficult to shoot down. In addition, they generally have greater explosive power than other types of drones or missiles, as was evident when Russia used such weapons against Ukrainian infrastructure, as well as during Iranian strikes on countries in the Middle East.
An official familiar with the matter told reporters that Thursday’s attack targeted a site in occupied Ukrainian territory, but did not disclose any details.
At the same time, despite significant progress in the development of Ukraine’s defense industry, analysts note that the limited capabilities of the domestic defense industry could hinder the mass production of such missiles.
