On the night of October 2, several Russian regions came under attack by drones. Online reports suggest that oil refining facilities in Volgograd and Samara may have been hit, according to "Focus".

Drones struck Lukoil’s oil refinery in Volgograd

According to eyewitnesses, explosions were heard in the city for an extended period during the night, after which a fire was reported in the area of Volgograd Oil Refinery (refinery). Analysts speculate that this facility may have been the target of the attack.

“Today in Volgograd, explosions were heard for an extended period of time both in the city itself and in the industrial zone near the Volgograd Oil Refinery,” monitoring channels reported.

Footage from the scene in Volgograd has also appeared online. In the footage, the sounds of explosions can be heard, and a bright flash is visible in the sky after the “strikes.”

We are talking about the Volgograd Oil Refinery (or Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka LLC). It is one of the largest enterprises in Russia’s oil refining industry, located in the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation, and is part of the network of facilities owned by the oil giant Lukoil. Its processing capacity is approximately 14–15 million metric tons of crude oil per year.

Early this morning, Telegram channels also reported a series of explosions in Samara, Russia, where an air raid alert had previously been issued due to a threat from UAVs. OSINT channels reported a fire in the city following the strikes.

Shortly thereafter, analysts reported that a linear production and dispatch station (LPDS) was on fire in Samara. This is a major hub on the main pipeline network that receives, stores, pumps, and distributes crude oil or petroleum products.
