Japan Has Imposed New Sanctions Against Russia

The list includes companies from the Russian military-industrial complex and ships from the “shadow fleet.”

On Friday, October 2, the Japanese government expanded its sanctions list against Russia in response to its aggression against Ukraine; the list includes 33 Russian companies and 9 individuals.

This was reported by the Japanese Ministry of Finance.

It is reported that Japan has also imposed restrictions on four companies from Turkey and the UAE and 35 vessels of the so-called shadow fleet.

Among those added to the list are individuals with ties to Russia’s military-industrial complex. Among them is the CEO of VNIIR-Progress Vladislav Kostin, Deputy Chairman of “Rostec” Dmitry Lelikov, a top manager at “Rostec” Vasily Brovko, CEO of “TROS” Igor Khomenko, Deputy Director of the same company Sergey Ushko, founder of the company “Lobaev” Vladislav Lobaev, as well as the CEO of JSC “Voskresensky Aggregate Plant” Alexander Sichugov and the owner of “TSST” LLC Alexander Zakharov.

Sanctions have also been imposed against the companies “Voentorg,” “VNIIR-Progress,” “Alabuga Machinery,” “Uralvagonzavod,” and others.

Japan imposed sanctions against Russia in connection with its invasion of Ukraine and has expanded the sanctions lists several times.

Earlier, Japanese authorities strongly condemned the visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Iturup Island.
