A meeting of the Council of the European Union will take place soon.

A meeting of the Council of the European Union will take place soon, at which decisions important for Ukraine’s accession may be adopted. Specifically, the discussion will focus on opening two additional negotiation chapters.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing a statement by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty journalist Rikard Jozwiak in X.

Jozwiak noted that an EU Council meeting will take place on October 13, which could be very important for the union’s expansion.

“This could potentially mark another round of EU enlargement. ‘Super Tuesday’ will take place on October 13,” he said.

The journalist also noted that if everything goes smoothly, the following will be opened:

- two negotiation chapters for Ukraine,
- two negotiation chapters for Moldova.
Three chapters for Montenegro and one for Albania are also expected to be closed, he says.

Earlier, it was reported that on October 6, Hungary will approve the next technical step at a meeting of the EU Council’s working body on enlargement, COELA.

This approval concerns sending a letter to Ukraine requesting that it provide the EU with its negotiating positions on clusters No. 2 and No. 3.

After that, Ukraine and the EU must complete the necessary technical procedures.

The Verkhovna Rada must adopt amendments to the Law “On Education” before the EU Council meeting scheduled for October 13.

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Vsevolod Chentsov says that Ukraine expects the two clusters to be opened once the agreements have been fulfilled. If things go well, the remaining clusters in the EU accession negotiations will be opened by the end of 2026.
