The updated Terms of Service strictly prohibit the use of VPNs.

Bitget, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has banned residents of Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan from using its services. The updated terms of service strictly prohibit the use of VPNs to circumvent these restrictions, according to Forbes.

Starting October 18, users are prohibited from opening new trades or purchasing subscriptions, and by October 21, they must withdraw their assets.

After October 21, access to accounts will be restricted—but this does not apply to all customers, only those who have received the relevant notifications by mail. The exact number of customers whose accounts will be blocked has not been disclosed.

The specific reasons for imposing the restrictions have not been disclosed either. The restrictions were imposed three weeks after a major cyberattack on the platform, during which hackers stole $351.6 million worth of cryptocurrency. This was the largest theft in the sector since the beginning of 2026.
