Orbán's Far-right Group In The European Parliament Reported That Its Offices Had Been Searched

The searches are related to a complaint.

The European Public Prosecutor's Office conducted a search of the offices of the far-right political group "Patriots for Europe" in the European Parliament. The group announced this on Wednesday, October 21, according to "European Truth".

The political group stated that the European Public Prosecutor’s Office had begun conducting searches in “the European Parliament’s administrative offices in Brussels and Strasbourg.”

“It appears that these searches are related to a complaint filed against the ‘Identity and Democracy’ (ID) political group, which was dissolved in 2024. The ‘Patriots for Europe’ faction emphasizes that it has no legal succession to the ID faction and is not involved in the ongoing investigations,” the statement reads.

The “Patriots for Europe” group, as a reminder, was formed in the European Parliament following the 2024 elections.

It includes parties such as Fidesz, led by former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the National Rally Marine Le Pen, the Austrian Freedom Party, and Andrej Babiš’s ANO. They were later joined by the Italian right-wing populist party “The League” Matteo Salvini and far-right Members of the European Parliament from Poland’s “Confederation” Anna Brilka and Tomasz Buczek.
