"Alcohol Poisoning": The Ukrainian Armed Forces Mocked Gerasimov's Far-Fetched Map Of The Front Lines

This refers to the report to Putin dated October 16.

The Joint Forces Group, which is part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and is responsible for the Kharkiv region and adjacent territories, does not usually comment on “every piece of disinformation that the aggressor state puts out on a daily basis.” However, Ukrainian defenders made an exception for the report by the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian invaders Valery Gerasimov regarding the alleged complete encirclement of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in northern Kharkiv Oblast and the occupation of two settlements in the Kupiansk direction.

This refers to Gerasimov’s report to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin dated October 16. Because of such reports, “there are two lines of demarcation: the real one and the imaginary one,” note GOS fighters, adding that “the difference between them is hundreds of square kilometers.”

Alcohol intoxication

“Everything that Chief of the General Staff Gerasimov recently reported to the Kremlin leader can be explained only by the following factors:

the desire to mislead his own leadership,

the desire to establish a position for diplomatic negotiations by including blatantly fantastical demands in the list of requirements,

severe alcohol or drug intoxication,

or a combination of the above factors,” – the State Defense Committee noted.

What’s the story?

Ukrainian defenders presented maps from the Institute for the Study of War dated October 16 and explained: the territories actually occupied by the Russians are marked in red, while those marked in yellow are “areas they control only in their own statements.” The striped red-and-yellow markings indicate territories where attempts are being made to infiltrate with small groups.

“The declared ‘zone of control’ is more than twice as large as the actual one, which gives an idea of the nature of Russian propaganda as a whole. Even more far-fetched, however, is General Gerasimov’s claim that the settlements of Palamarovka and Kovalevka were captured in the Kupyansk direction, as well as an advance toward the settlement of Shevchenkove,” state the GOS soldiers.

The village of Shevchenkove does not appear on the map—it simply didn’t fit because it is located 30 kilometers due west of the nearest Russian positions.

“Thus, we must conclude that within the Joint Forces Group’s area of responsibility, there are two lines of demarcation—a real one and a fictitious one, as recorded in the reports of the Russian General Staff. The difference between them amounts to hundreds of square kilometers. We cannot prevent the invaders from shifting the imaginary lines, but the Defense Forces are currently effectively maintaining the actual lines on the ground,” the Ukrainian soldiers emphasized.
