Electric Vehicle Owners In Belarus Will Begin Paying A Vehicle Tax

It has been announced when the notices will begin to arrive.

In 2027, electric vehicle owners will receive notices to pay vehicle tax for 2026, since the tax exemption for them will be eliminated starting in 2026. Vehicles will be taxed at standard rates.

— We must not forget that we all use the infrastructure, primarily the roads. In other words, the vehicle tax in Belarus serves as a dedicated source of funding for road construction. That is why we are saying that the time has come to ensure everyone shares the responsibility of contributing to the financing of this type of government spending. If the need arises in the future to address environmental issues, the tax system will adapt and seek mechanisms to do so,” said Dmitry Kiiko, Belarus’s Minister of Taxes and Levies.
