Visitors from Russia are not welcome in our country.
A Russian woman emigrated from her country, first to Kazakhstan and then to Belarus. On the social media platform Threads, she described the difficulties she faced during the move.
“Moving to Belarus was much harder than our previous experience in Kazakhstan,” she writes. “Everything was hard—from moving our belongings and our cat Tisha to looking for a job and an apartment, and getting our paperwork in order.”
Finding an apartment was a whole other story. When looking for a place to rent, the following factors made it difficult: we were a young couple (24–25 years old), we had our cat Tisha, and, of course, we were Russian citizens. No matter what anyone says, it’s very hard for immigrants from Russia to start life from scratch in Belarus.”
Some of the author’s compatriots, as noted by the website Charter97.org, reported that they also faced difficulties renting an apartment in Minsk.
“Unfortunately, finding an apartment was a real struggle. Only one out of 10 landlords is willing to rent to a Russian. I’m speaking from my own experience,” wrote another Russian woman.
