U.S. authorities have warned Gulf countries to prepare for a short and intense war against Iran following the U.S. midterm congressional elections.
According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing officials familiar with the situation, these reports—coming through diplomatic and military channels—are one of the signs that the U.S. and Israel are preparing to launch a new round of intense military operations against Iran.
According to the sources, there is a risk of a serious escalation, through which the U.S. intends to weaken Tehran’s capabilities and push it toward negotiations.
According to the WSJ, the U.S. military is already deploying the Patriot air defense system to the region and replenishing ammunition stocks. The publication noted that aircraft are preparing to carry out strikes in July. Next month, an additional aircraft carrier strike group and a Marine Corps unit will join the fleet of 20 warships in the Middle East.
Among the targets to be struck, the publication’s sources cited Iranian infrastructure and nuclear facilities.
At the same time, the publication noted that U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision but is leaning toward a large-scale attack after the election.
In addition, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted that Israel, together with Trump, might start a new war with Iran.
“Israel and our friend President Trump have been given a unique opportunity—to eliminate the Iranian threat once and for all. We have been able to defeat our enemies, and we will be able to do so in the future,” he said.
