Their colleague, who was downstairs, was killed.

In Brest, a 50-year-old foreman will stand trial for the death of a worker at a construction site. He authorized the use of a lift that had not been properly commissioned. As a result, the structure collapsed, and the counterweights mounted on the roof of the building fell on a 44-year-old plasterer. He died at the scene, reported the prosecutor’s office.

The tragedy occurred in November 2025 while the facade of a five-story building in Brest was being finished. The foreman responsible for construction safety ordered the use of a facade lift that had not undergone the required commissioning procedure.

The man died at the scene.

The foreman was charged under Part 2 of Article 303 of the Criminal Code (violation of construction safety regulations resulting in the death of a person through negligence). He faces up to seven years in prison.

The criminal case has been referred to court. The defendant remains under a recognizance not to leave the area and to behave appropriately.
