Investigators are currently trying to determine whether he acted in collusion with anyone.

The co-pilot of FlyDubai flight, en route to Tel Aviv, attacked the captain with an emergency axe from the cockpit and attempted to seize control of the plane during a “terrorist attack.” According to the state news agency WAM, the UAE’s attorney general made this statement, as reported by the BBC.

The co-pilot was identified as an Omani citizen named Hamam al-Hammami.

A diplomat from one of the Gulf states told the AP that an investigation is currently underway to determine whether he acted “alone or has any ties to extremist groups.”
