The U.S. president canceled a planned rally in Kansas.
U.S. President Donald Trump canceled a planned rally in Kansas and insisted that his health had nothing to do with it. He called the reporter who asked about it “disgusting.”
This was reported by CNN.
Trump was scheduled to speak this weekend in Salina alongside Republican Senator Roger Marshall. According to polls, Marshall has unexpectedly found himself in a tight race for reelection.
“I’m not going to Kansas because he’s doing very well there,” Trump explained to reporters at Andrews Air Force Base upon his return from South Carolina. Instead of the rally, he will hold a conference call with voters.
When a reporter asked whether the cancellation was related to the president’s health or travel fatigue, Trump became angry.
“The reason is that I don’t see any need to go to Kansas. Tomorrow I’m flying to Florida,” he said. According to him, the reporter has been following him for two weeks now, so he must be able to see that the president “feels perfectly fine.”
Trump called the reporter “disgusting” and advised him to “get in shape” because, he said, the reporter “looks terrible.”
This month, Trump has been speaking at events almost every day to rally Republicans ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections. At several recent events, he himself admitted that his voice had become hoarse due to his constant traveling.
