What is known about the shootdown
According to the association, this is the first confirmed interception of a “KUB-2E” by a frontline interceptor drone. The target was destroyed by pilots from the “POSIPAKI” UAV interceptor unit using “General Chereshnya AIR.”
What Is Known About the “KUB-2E”
The ZALA “KUB-2E” is a development by the Russian Kalashnikov Concern that the enemy is using in the war against Ukraine while simultaneously offering it for export.
Typically, this loitering munition operates in conjunction with a reconnaissance drone: the drone detects a target, after which the operator guides the munition using video feed from the camera. Targets include personnel, military equipment, and UAV operator positions.
As a reminder, RBC-Ukraine previously reported that the “General Chereshnya Bullet” interceptor had struck a Russian “Geran-4” jet-powered drone for the first time. The target was destroyed by operators of the Separate Artillery Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. Additionally, the crew of the “Vspyshka” of the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Brigade destroyed a Russian “Geran-5” drone missile for the second time on October 8 in the Chernihiv region using a jet-powered interceptor drone.
