The Ukrainian Armed Forces Destroyed A Russian Mi-8 Helicopter With A Drone

Soldiers from the Third Assault Brigade carried out a successful operation.

During an operation targeting Russian logistics, Ukrainian drone operators tracked down a Mi-8 helicopter and struck it after it landed.

According to a report from Ukraine’s Third Assault Brigade, a team operating “Hornet” kamikaze strike drones from the SKYFOM strike wing platoon of the Unmanned Systems Battalion detected a Russian helicopter and attempted to intercept it in the air. The drones forced the crew to change course.

The Mi-8’s cruising speed was higher than that of the attack drones. However, after the helicopter landed, Ukrainian forces struck it in the area of the fuel tanks. A second “Hornet” drone also hit its target.

As a result, the helicopter—which the Russian army uses to transport personnel and cargo, conduct evacuations, and provide fire support—was completely destroyed, according to the Ukrainian unit.
