Zelensky spoke about the challenges she faced.

A new small missile called “Nika,” designed to destroy Shahed-type attack drones, has been developed in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on October 4 during a conversation with journalists, as quoted by "Suspilne".

According to the head of state, both the Ukrainian and German sides view the development positively. Missile tests are coming up.

“We’re getting a new small-caliber ‘Nika’ missile to counter Shahed drones. Everything is looking good—both the Germans and we are reacting positively. There will be tests. For now, we’re seeing what positive outcomes might emerge,” Zelenskyy said.

The president also reported on the successful testing of the new Ukrainian-German “Spys” interceptor.

“It’s important that today we heard about the test of our new interceptor, the German-Ukrainian ‘Spys’ interceptor. The test was successful,” he noted.

During a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Kyiv on October 4, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is currently shooting down approximately 85–92% of conventional Shahed drones. At the same time, the interception rate for jet-powered drones is 50–60%. According to him, the air force—in particular, F-16 fighter jets—is providing significant assistance in combating them.
