The Iconic Citroën 2CV Is Set To Be Revived

  • 6.10.2026, 9:41

The new model will cost less than €15,000.

Citroën has released new photos of the revived 2CV ahead of its official debut. The electric car will feature a design with the distinctive traits of the original model and is set to become the brand’s most affordable vehicle.

This is reported by Autocar.

The new photos show dome-shaped headlights mounted high on the front fenders, as well as deep ribs on the hood, reminiscent of elements from early 2CV models. An open air intake is located between the front fenders and the hood—a design feature also found on later versions of the original model.

The new 2CV features large steel wheels with Michelin tires. In this way, the manufacturer highlights Michelin’s significant role in the development of the original car.

Citroën views the 2CV revival project as a way to strengthen its position in the European market for affordable cars. The model is expected to become the entry-level vehicle in the brand’s lineup, filling the gap between the Ami quadricycle and the compact C3.

The new 2CV will be an electric vehicle. According to Citroën CEO Xavier Chardon, this model is intended to make electric mobility more accessible to buyers.

Citroën previously confirmed that the car’s price will be less than 15,000 euros. The model was also developed with the EU’s proposed regulations for a new class of small electric vehicles in mind, which are intended to stimulate the production of such cars in Europe.

The official premiere of the new Citroën 2CV is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on October 11.
