Trump Is Handing Out Billions Of Dollars To Americans Ahead Of The Election

  • 8.10.2026, 7:43

The U.S. President is implementing several financial initiatives.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced a series of financial payments to Americans ahead of the midterm elections, which will take place on November 3.

This was reported by Reuters.

The total amount of direct payments already announced is approximately $2.35 billion.

The publication notes that one of Trump’s latest initiatives calls for a one-time payment of $90 to 20.8 million Americans enrolled in Medicare Part B.

The White House stated that this money should help offset rising health insurance costs. The funds are planned to be drawn from the Medicare Improvement Fund, to which Congress has allocated $2 billion.

Not Everyone Will Receive Trump’s Payments

At the same time, Reuters notes that not all Americans enrolled in Medicare will receive the payments initiated by the current U.S. administration.

In total, approximately 70.6 million people participate in the program. Specifically, those ineligible to receive the $90 payment include low-income citizens whose Part B premiums are covered by the program itself, high-income individuals who pay an additional premium, and participants in the private Medicare Advantage program.

More money

Reuters notes that this is not the first financial initiative by the Trump administration ahead of the election. Previously, nearly 950,000 Americans who purchase health insurance through the government portal Healthcare.gov began receiving payments of $500 each.

The White House described these funds as a refund of an excessive fee that, according to the administration, was charged to users of the Affordable Care Act under the previous administration of Joe Biden.

At the same time, the payments do not apply to the approximately 19 million Americans enrolled in Obamacare.

According to Reuters estimates, about 71% of people eligible for this $500 live in states where competitive Senate or gubernatorial elections are taking place this year.

A Promise to Pay $5,000 Each

Separately, Trump proposed paying $5,000 to every adult U.S. citizen if Republicans retain control of Congress after the November elections.

According to Reuters estimates, such a program could cost about $1.2 trillion—roughly 16% of the U.S. federal budget. Congressional approval is required to implement it, but so far this initiative has not received sufficient support from lawmakers.

Other Pre-Election Decisions by Trump

Ahead of the election, the president’s administration also announced the allocation of $150 million for the construction and modernization of power lines in Alaska.

This was announced on October 5—the same day that Vice President J.D. Vance was campaigning in the state in support of Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, who is seeking reelection.

A week earlier, Trump also announced plans to build a new pipeline in Alaska to transport liquefied natural gas. At the same time, Vance noted that the details of the project have yet to be finalized.

Thus, a few weeks before the midterm elections, the Trump administration announced a series of financial measures aimed at various groups of American voters. The elections on November 3 will determine whether Republicans can retain control of the U.S. Congress.
The U.S. midterm elections will take place on November 3, 2026. It is clear that they will determine a new balance of power in the U.S. Congress and influence the White House’s future policies.
