One Of Russia's Gazprom's Largest Facilities Is On Fire

Drones struck the Salavat Oil Refinery in Bashkortostan.
On the night of October 8, drones reached the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia and attacked a major industrial and petrochemical center—the city of Salavat.
Following a series of explosions in the city, a large oil refinery—Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat LLC—caught fire. The facility is located 1,400 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. OSINT channels reported this early this morning, citing eyewitness accounts.

Gazpromneftekhim Salavat LLC is one of Russia’s largest petrochemical complexes. According to publicly available sources, the plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, and other petroleum products. The plant also produces liquefied gases, butyl alcohols, polyethylene, polystyrene, ammonia, etc. The company helps meet the needs of the Russian military.
The plant’s capacity is approximately 10 million metric tons of crude oil per year. In 2024, the plant processed 7.2 million metric tons of crude oil, accounting for at least 2.7% of Russia’s total crude oil refining volume.
Previously, the Salavat Oil Refinery had already been targeted by Ukrainian long-range drones, after which the facility suspended operations.
As a reminder, also last night in Russia’s Ryazan Region, the “Sasta” machine-tool plant and the large “Yandex DC Sasovo” data center. Following the attacks, a large-scale outage has been observed on Yandex’s servers.
