Moscow was the first to "fall."
The Ukrainian air campaign to block airspace in the Russian Federation began in Moscow. At Moscow airports, hundreds of flights are being delayed or canceled. This is reported by the Telegram channel Ukraine Context, which is considered close to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kirill Budanov.
In particular, it is noted that the previously promised campaign to block the airspace of the Russian Federation began with a slight delay.
“But there were compelling reasons for this, as well as requests from some partners,” the report states.
According to the Russian opposition Telegram channel ASTRA, Moscow and the surrounding region were attacked by drones and small balloons.
Reports are coming in from southern districts of Moscow regarding the activities of Russian air defense forces. In particular, residents of the Kapotnya, Kuzminki, Lyublino, Maryino, Tsaritsyno, Chertanovo, Orekhovo-Borisovo, Tekstilshchiki, Nagatinsky Zaton, and others are reporting the sounds of explosions, and some say they witnessed the air defense systems in action.
Rosaviatsiya reported that the “Kover” plan is being implemented at four Moscow airports—Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Sheremetyevo.
At the same time, according to other reports on Russian social media, more than 200 flights have been delayed and more than 200 canceled at Moscow airports.
This is due to restrictions imposed because of the danger posed by drones. Specifically, as of midnight local time, restrictions are in effect at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports. Initially, these restrictions were scheduled to remain in effect until 7:00 a.m. Later in the day, restrictions were reimposed at some Moscow airports, and as of 3:40 p.m., all of these airports—including Sheremetyevo Airport—are once again not accepting flights.
