The President of Ukraine is ready to discuss a ceasefire along the entire front line.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he is ready to hold a face-to-face meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Turkey. The main goal is a ceasefire along the entire front line.
This was reported by CNN Türk.
Zelenskyy hopes that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will help facilitate talks with Putin in Turkey.
The Ukrainian leader considers high-level dialogue “essential,” as previous contacts between the parties have so far failed to bring the war to an end.
“We are ready for this meeting in Turkey. I know that President Erdogan has his own connections with Putin. That is why we support a meeting in Turkey,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the head of state, direct talks between the presidents could help find solutions to issues that cannot be resolved at the level of delegations and technical working groups.
“That is precisely why I want to meet with him as a decision-maker,” Zelenskyy noted.
Among the key topics for a possible meeting with Putin, the Ukrainian leader cited a ceasefire along the front lines and the creation of a mechanism to monitor compliance with the agreements.
In addition, in his view, security guarantees, Ukraine’s reconstruction, and territorial issues should be discussed at the presidential level.
At the same time, Zelenskyy assured that he would not agree to Putin’s demands to hand over the Donbas or recognize Crimea as Russian. He explained that such concessions would contradict the Constitution of Ukraine.
