What does Ukraine want in return?
Ukrainian leaderVolodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv is ready to discuss a temporary cessation of strikes on Russian oil refineries, provided that the United States supplies Ukraine with missiles for the Patriot air defense systems. The head of state gave this response on November 2 to Donald Trump, who had demanded an end to strikes on Russian oil refineries. Zelenskyy’s remarks were broadcast on Fox News.
“If you want us to stop attacking their oil refineries for a month, give me missiles for the Patriot system for this month!” said the Ukrainian president.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is not asking for free military aid and is prepared to find the funds on its own to purchase the necessary weapons. To do so, the president emphasized, the U.S. must agree to the deliveries. He also stated that the U.S. should not provide support to Russia.
“America cannot help Russia. President Trump cannot help Putin,” Zelenskyy noted.
