A group of companies that is crucial to Russia's defense industry is ablaze.

On the night of November 7, the Russian city of Orel came under a missile attack. According to preliminary reports, the strike targeted the area around the “Proton” factories, which manufacture components for the “Iskander-M” and “Pantsir-S1” systems.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing OSINT sources.

A fire broke out in Orel following the attack; it can be seen in videos posted online. According to preliminary reports, the “Proton” industrial complex was hit.

Russian authorities have not yet released official data on the consequences of the strike or the extent of the damage.

"Proton" develops and manufactures optoelectronic equipment, semiconductor devices, LED products, and power electronics.

The company is a key component of the Russian defense-industrial complex. It supplies components for the “Iskander-M” missile systems and the “Pantsir-S1” anti-aircraft missile and gun systems.

Defense forces are regularly targeted at industrial facilities deep within Russia. In late October, Ukrainian drones attacked Omsk, where the “Omsky Kauchuk” plant and the Ozon warehouse were hit. Satellite images show that the Ozon warehouse in Omsk was partially burned down, even though it is more than 2,500 km from the border with Ukraine.
