A Korean electric car held its own against a supercar priced at 4.5 million euros.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N electric sedan proved fast and agile enough to serve as an escort on the racetrack for one of the world’s most extreme cars—the 1,600-silny Bugatti Bolide, valued at 4.5 million euros. The Korean electric car, with 641 l. s. of power, was used as a support vehicle for filming the hypercar, which is capable of reaching speeds of up to 380 km/h, according to Top Gear.
The low center of gravity, thanks to the batteries in the underbody, ensures the car’s stability in turns, while the instantaneous response of the electric motors allows it to accelerate quickly and maintain a precise position alongside the car being filmed.
The simulated manual transmission system made a particularly strong impression. It replicates gear shifts, jerks when changing gears, engine noise, and even the pops when lifting off the throttle.
“It’s mesmerizing and, oddly enough, creates a sensation of even greater speed,” — writes Top Gear columnist Jack Ricks.
The electric car also allows you to disable the stability control system and activate a special drift mode, directing all torque to the rear wheels.
However, it wasn’t without its flaws. During testing, the audio system—including the engine sound simulation—shut down completely twice. The problem was resolved by simply resetting the power supply—all it took was disconnecting the battery for a few seconds.
