"Charter" Is Building Underground Cities For Soldiers

The underground positions also served as a base for conducting effective offensive operations.

Soldiers from the 13th Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard, “Charter,” are constructing underground camps for training and recuperation. These shelters provide protection against massive attacks by enemy drones and help new recruits adapt to conditions on the front lines.

On the air on “Channel 24”, correspondent Anya Chernenko reported that underground positions have now also become a base for conducting effective offensive operations. That is precisely why the military is moving training classrooms, mess halls, living quarters, and sleeping areas underground.

How the “Charter” underground bases are set up

New recruits are sent to dugouts from their very first days of service so they can get used to the realities of the front lines even before being deployed to the front. In the underground complexes, efforts are made to create comfortable conditions for psychological relief: recreation areas are set up there, paintings and children’s drawings are hung on the walls, and a classroom with an interactive whiteboard will soon open.

“We’re going underground because there are more and more drones on the front lines. We’re gradually fortifying our positions and digging in. We’re also moving the guys underground and training them there so they can get used to the dugouts,” noted “Shaman,” a scout with the 13th Brigade of the National Guard’s “Charter” unit.

Military officials emphasize that going underground is not an outdated method, but a necessity of the modern high-tech battlefield.

“The deeper we go underground, the better we can ensure the safety of our guys. Digging in isn’t some medieval technology—it’s the reality of our lives,” the defender emphasized.

In addition to building shelters, securing transportation remains a priority for the unit, which is why fundraising continues to repair the brigade’s reconnaissance vehicles.

Previously, analysts noted that due to the total dominance of drones, the war is becoming increasingly entrenched, and the Defense Forces have already carried out a large-scale underground operation called “Veles”. The fighters traveled more than 15 kilometers underground and eliminated over a hundred Russians.
