An Injured Police Officer In Krakow Saved Hundreds Of People

An expert described the actions of the wounded law enforcement officer as exemplary.

The actions of the police officers who stopped an armed assailant in downtown Kraków prevented an even greater tragedy. Given the large number of weapons in the shooter’s car, the death toll could have run into the hundreds, said police training expert Piotr Caliński, according to Fakt.

According to him, one of the police officers, who had previously served in an airborne unit, acted calmly and professionally. After being wounded, he quickly applied a tourniquet to his arm and lay on top of it to stop the bleeding. At the same time, the officer sought not to kill the attacker but to subdue him.

Tsalinsky noted that the officer’s military experience was evident in his actions: he handled his weapon confidently with both hands and maintained his composure in a critical situation.

The expert rejected suggestions that the police officer could be held liable for shooting at an attacker who was lying on the ground. In his assessment, the officer acted in an exemplary manner: the shooter was wearing a bulletproof vest and had a significant advantage in terms of weaponry.

“This man should be training police officers. He went through what officers usually only practice during training,” — said Calinowski.

As a reminder, on November 7, police officers Jakub Kulik and Artur Moranski engaged in a shootout with an assailant in downtown Kraków and helped apprehend him. Both sustained serious injuries.
