For contributions to peace and international cooperation.

In 2026, the prestigious Evald von Kleist Prize for Peace and International Cooperation is awarded to the Ukrainian people.

About this reported the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Alexei Makeev.

"Now it is official: the Ewald von Kleist Prize will be awarded to the Ukrainian people," the report said.

According to the dpa news agency, the award will be accepted by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at a small ceremony on the evening of Saturday, February 14.

"For more than a decade, the Ukrainian people have been fighting for their freedom, independence and dignity - first in Crimea and Donbass after Russia's invasion in 2014, and then across the country after Russia launched a full-scale invasion in 2022. However, despite the enormous hardships they endure, the brutality they face and the sacrifices they continue to make, the determination of the Ukrainian people to defend the freedom of their country - and indeed of all of Europe - remains unbreakable," Ischinger said.

Munich Security Conference

The 62nd Munich Security Conference will be held Feb. 13-15. According to the organizers, nearly 50 heads of state and government from around the world have confirmed their participation.

Since 2009, the conference has awarded the Ewald von Kleist Prize to leading figures in the field of security policy who have made outstanding contributions to international cooperation and conflict resolution. Last year's winner was EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas, who was recognized for rallying support for Ukraine, dpa recalls. Other past winners of the award include NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the UN and the OSCE.
