A European Country Is Switching To Electronic Visas

What does this mean for Belarusians?

February 25, the United Kingdom introduces electronic visas. What it means for Belarusians, told the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Minsk, writes "Mirror".

From this date, instead of a visa sticker in the passport, travelers will receive only an electronic visa (eVisa) - this is a "digital immigration status".

Applicants will need to visit the visa center only once to confirm their identity. Filling out the application form online and signing up for biometrics remains the same.

The applicant's passport will be returned to them on the day of their visit - no need to come back for a visa sticker.

An account will also need to be created on the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) website, which gives online access to immigration status.

Airlines, ferries, cruise operators and the UK Border Agency will automatically check eligibility through digital systems.

"The passport you are traveling with must be correctly linked to your UKVI account," the British Embassy said.

The diplomatic mission noted that e-visas make the visa application process easier and faster, and allow you to get the visa information you need anytime and from anywhere.

"The changes are part of the UK's wider move to digital visas for all relevant categories of travelers," the British Embassy added.
