He urged the Central Asian states to side with the EU and not help Russia circumvent sanctions.
The countries of Central Asia should support the European Union in observing sanctions against Russia. They should also side with the EU on the issue of supporting Ukraine.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a statement made by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful on ntv.
Wadeful said before a meeting with the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan that the Central Asian states should unequivocally side with the EU.
The minister recalled that the EU has imposed sweeping sanctions against Russia to contain the Russian war machine. But Central Asian countries allow Russia to circumvent European restrictions.
"Today I want to make it clear: attempts to circumvent these sanctions support Russia's war of conquest and thus directly threaten the security interests of the European Union," he summarized.
