There's no analog anywhere.

The UK is promoting a new hypersonic Nightfall system, which is intended to be delivered to Ukraine and at the same time become the base for the British armed forces' advanced long-range strike programs. The development has already passed its first tests and attracted major investment.

The Times reports The Times.

British company Hypersonica is working on missiles capable of maneuvering at speeds in excess of five speeds of sound.

The first tests of the navigation systems, created in just nine months, took place at the Andoya spaceport in Norway.

The rocket reached speeds of more than 7,400 kilometers per hour during the tests, which is the same as Mach 6.

The government confirmed that the Nightfall system will be transferred to Ukraine and "will also form the basis for future long-range strike projects by the British armed forces." Contracts are expected to be signed in March.

"We are committed to providing Europe with a deep and precision strike capability at the right price and in the right timeframe, and that is what this investment allows us to do," said Philippe Kerth, co-founder and CEO of Hypersonica.

The missiles are expected to be deployed by the end of the decade, he said. Britain and Germany have previously announced their intention to develop a system with a range of more than 2,000 km under the Trinity House agreement.

"It is recognized in Europe that it is the 'deep strike' capability that will enable us to develop the deterrence and defense capabilities we need.... We need a new approach to developing the technology for these systems," he stressed.

The company is among 90 organizations selected to participate in the government's £1 billion hypersonic development program. Hypersonica plans to expand production in the UK and Eastern Europe, focusing on customer requirements.
