Russia Begins Mass Evacuation From Cuba

Moscow made a disappointing statement.
The fuel crisis in Cuba has directly affected Russian interests and directly affected Russian tourists. Russia will start removing its tourists from Cuba in the coming days and temporarily stop all regular flights to the island. This decision is due to a severe shortage of fuel, as officially announced by the aviation regulator Rosaviatsia, writes "Dialog.UA".
According to the agency, Rossiya Airlines (part of the Aeroflot group) and Severny Vet will only perform special flights designed to return passengers home. Full-fledged air communication with Cuba is suspended until the situation with fuel is stabilized. Carriers have already warned that the new flight regime will come into effect from next Thursday.
The reason for the drastic measures is a critical shortage of aviation kerosene in Cuba. Cuban authorities have notified international airlines in advance that refueling planes on the island will become impossible. That means planes simply will not be able to fly safely, even if tourists are willing to fly.
The fuel crisis was part of a broader economic problem facing Cuba.
The situation worsened sharply following the decision by the administration of US President Donald Trump to declare the island a national security threat.
After that, Washington blocked oil shipments from Venezuela and threatened to impose tariffs against other fuel suppliers, including Mexico.
