The U.S. Secretary of State is going on a tour of Europe.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that during his upcoming visit to Europe, particularly Hungary and Slovakia, he plans to discuss with the leaders of these countries the need to stop energy purchases from Russia.
In response to a reporter's direct question about whether he would urge Budapest and Bratislava to stop importing Russian energy, Rubio confirmed the topic was on the agenda, according to the U.S. State Department's website.
"We will have those conversations with them. We'll talk to them about what needs to happen. I'm not going to get into the details of exactly what we're going to say in those meetings," the secretary of state emphasized.
Rubio also described Hungary and Slovakia as countries that "work very closely with the United States," calling the visit a good opportunity to visit nations he has not visited before.
