US Intends To Hold Talks On Ukraine And Iran On The Same Day

Two diplomatic rounds of talks - on Ukraine and Iran - are due to take place at once in Geneva next week on Tuesday, February 17.

This is reported by Reuters.

The source said the U.S. delegation, which includes Trump envoys Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner, will meet with the Iranians on Tuesday. Also present at the meeting will be representatives from Oman, who will mediate those contacts.

Then, in the afternoon, Whitkoff and Kushner will take part in trilateral talks with representatives from Russia and Ukraine.

Reuters notes that US President Donald Trump is putting pressure on Iran's government after the country's violent crackdown on protests. He has also concentrated a significant number of US naval forces in the region.

In parallel, Trump is trying to persuade Ukraine and Russia to conclude an agreement to end the war.
