The violent explosions began as early as the evening of February 14.
Late on the evening of February 14 and after midnight, Russia's Krasnodar region was massively attacked by drones. Locals complain of explosions, while authorities claim dozens of drones were allegedly shot down, writes "Focus".
The resort towns of Sochi and Adler in particular came under attack, where strong explosions began to be heard as early as around 22:00 hours. This is reported by Russian Telegram channels.
Before the attack, in the evening, the threat of strike UAVs was announced in the region. Local airports in Sochi and Gelendzhik instituted a "Cover" plan, limiting operations.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that between 20:00 and 23:00 hours alone, air defense forces allegedly shot down 23 drones in the skies over the Krasnodar region. Local authorities have not officially announced anything about the aftermath at the time of publication, but video clips circulating online show smoke rising in Sochi and visible haze after the explosions.
The loudest, according to eyewitnesses, was in the city of Adler, where the powerful explosions caused residents' windows to shake and sirens to go off in their cars.
At the same time, monitoring channels suggest that a local oil refinery in Sochi could have been hit by drones. Also explosions, as analysts have found out, are heard in the area of the seaport in Sochi, where major oil terminals of the Russian Federation operate. However, there has been no official information about this so far.
