The United States has detained another tanker in the Indian Ocean, which could have been used to transport subsanctioned oil. This is reported by the U.S. Department of War in the social network X. According to the Pentagon, the military tracked the Veronica III from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean before performing a stopover. The boarding took place without incident.
"International waters are not a safe haven. On land, in the air or at sea, we will find you and hold you accountable," the Pentagon said, warning other vessels of consequences for violating the sanctions regime.
According to the resource of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine War & Sanctions, the Veronica III could have been used to illegally transport hundreds of thousands of tons of Iranian and Venezuelan oil.
