Amid Trump's threats.

Iran's armed forces have begun large-scale naval exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported in its Telegram channel.

The exercises are called "Smart Control over the Strait of Hormuz." Their purpose is to assess the readiness of the IRGC's operational units and work out military response scenarios. The progress of the exercise was overseen by IRGC Commander-in-Chief Major General Major General Mohammad Pakpour.

U.S. President Donald Trump earlier threatened Iran with "very tough measures" if the deal with Washington fails. The Republican is considering sending an aircraft carrier to Tehran and additional military forces.
