Of these, a key unit has been created.

Ukraine has created a squadron of F-16s, which includes Ukrainian, American and Dutch pilots. They help defend the sky from Russian missiles and drones.

The French publication Intelligence Online, which specializes in intelligence work, writes about it. According to journalists, the squadron was formed in recent weeks in strict secrecy to operate the new F-16s. The unit plays a key role in defending the skies over the Kiev region, which is constantly under attack by the Russians.

The squadron is made up of American pilots with extensive combat experience in Afghanistan. One of them recently took part in operations in the Middle East before joining the defense of Ukraine.

The Dutch side includes pilots trained at elite European air combat schools specializing in modern interdiction tactics and high-tech air warfare.

Intelligence Online clarifies: the Western veterans have signed temporary contracts with rotations for 6 months (with possible extensions). They have no official ranks in the Ukrainian structure.

The squadron intercepts Russian Kalibr and Kh-101 cruise missiles and Geran-5 drones on a daily basis. The F-16s are used for patrols, including night patrols, to maximize radar coverage and rapid response.

The main value of Western pilots is experience with high-tech equipment such as Snipe sighting and reconnaissance containers. The system allows them to see targets at great distances, escort missiles and drones in darkness or clouds. Ukrainian pilots are mastering it, but veterans are speeding up the process.
