The visa center has again changed the rules for applying for a Polish visa. The innovations affected the Belarusians, who are registered in the settlements referred to the so-called Minsk and Hrodna districts. Now, to apply for a visa here, one should be registered in the region for at least six months. This was told in TikTok by the user @visa_she_sells. Expert Anastasia Lysokovskaya confirmed "Zerkalo" this information.
Since the fall of 2023, visa centers, where Belarusians sign up for Polish visas, were divided into three conditional jurisdictions - Hrodna, Brest and Minsk districts. Since then, people could apply to them only depending on their official place of residence. However, over time, enterprising Belarusians learned to circumvent this rule and not for free made residence permits in those districts, where it was easier to catch a "window" for filing. Now this loophole is closed.
- Now, in order to apply to one of the visa centers of Minsk region (these are visa centers of Minsk, Homel, Mahiliou or Vitsebsk), residence registration in these areas must be at least six months," said the author of the TikTok-channel @visa_she_sells.
The same information was confirmed to "Zerkalo" by visa expert Anastasia Lysokovskaya. As it turned out, the "six-month rule" became effective in Minsk district in February. In Hrodna district even earlier - since December 10 last year. Only Brest region has not affected the possibility to apply irrespective of the period of residence registration.
- But this is only for holders of a regular passport, - says Anastasia. - If it is biometric, the situation changes. Then the request will be accepted only if the document was issued in Brest region.
Anastasia suggests that the "six-month rule" was most likely introduced to remove the loophole with the propiska. In her opinion, now the situation with filing in the visa centers of Minsk district will become more complicated. In Hrodna and Brest will be a little easier.
- From my observations - Minsk District is overloaded. People used to re-register in Brest and Grodno districts. Now this opportunity is blocked," she summarizes.
