According to the publication, the incident occurred the day before on a train consisting of 37 tank cars and traveling from Szczecin towards the Ukrainian border.

The detainee turned out to be a 25-year-old Moldovan citizen who got into the locomotive after he asked the driver for a ride to the border village of Dorogusk. While driving, the man activated the emergency stop system on three cars.

The driver noticed the partial blockage of the wheels in time and stopped the train, which avoided a possible derailment of the cars. The law enforcement agencies noted that such a sudden braking of the freight train could have led to a serious accident.

In the course of searches, the suspect was found several mobile devices, a set of SIM cards and documents, in particular certificates confirming fluency in Russian. According to investigators, the man could have acted on the instructions of foreign intelligence services.

The suspect is now in custody. Law enforcers are checking his connections and the circumstances of his stay in the country, which he entered only a day before the incident.

The event is seen as a potential threat to the security of transportation corridors through which Ukraine receives critical energy resources.
