Popular Tourist Country May Introduce Visas For Belarusians

Already this year.

Montenegro is considering the possibility of introducing a visa regime for citizens of Belarus. This was reported by the Belarusian Republican Union of Tourism Industry with reference to the briefing of the Montenegrin Foreign Ministry reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro on February 6 organized a briefing for heads and representatives of diplomatic missions on the plans of Montenegro to accelerate integration into the European Union.

It was stated that the country intends to complete negotiations on EU accession by the end of 2026. Accession itself is expected by 2028.

As part of this process, Montenegro plans to "fully align" its visa policy with the pan-European one by the end of 2026. This effectively means introducing a visa regime for citizens of those countries that are not on the EU's visa-free list - including Belarus and Russia.

Such a decision may negatively affect tourism, but political commitments in this matter prevail over economic interests, said acting Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro on bilateral issues Maria Stepcevic.

Now the Montenegrin side is negotiating with VFS Global on the opening of visa centers to issue Montenegrin visas.
