Nikolai Statkevich To The Belarusians: Zhyvitsa Is Good!

  • 19.02.2026, 19:05

The Belarusian hero thanked everyone who supported him.

The coordinator of the civil campaign "European Belarus" Dmitry Bandarenka managed to talk to the leader of the Belarusian opposition Nikola Statkevich, who was released today, February 19.

He does have certain problems with his speech. The ex-political prisoner said that he had been in the intensive care unit of the prison hospital for a month after a stroke and needed some time to recover. Nikolai Statkevich sent a huge greeting to Andrei Sannikov and thanked all Belarusians for support. When asked by Dzmitry Bondarenko, "What would you like to say to Belarusians?" he replied, "Zhyvitse godna!" ("Live worthily!").

Today, February 19, Statkevich's wife Marina Adamovich reported on Facebook that the leader of the Belarusian opposition was at home.

"Dear friends, Nikolai is at home! He had a stroke. Now he is recovering. There are still problems with speech. Otherwise, everything is normal. Everything will be fine," writes Marina Adamovich.

We recall that on September 11, Lukashenko's regime released and expelled 52 prisoners from the country. Statkevich Nikolai Statkevich was the only one of this group, who did not cross the border between Belarus and Lithuania. For some time, the politician could be seen on the images from the cameras at the border, but then he was taken away by masked men in an unknown direction. For a long time it was unknown where he was.

In 2021, Nikolai Statkevich was sentenced to 14 years in a special regime colony for organizing "mass riots."

Since early July 2022, since Nikolai Statkevich started serving his sentence in Gluboka colony, the leader of the Belarusian opposition has been kept in the harshest conditions: kept in solitary confinement in dangerous conditions. It became known that Mikalai Statkevich had contracted COVID-19 several times during his imprisonment.
