Budris: Transit Of Belarusian Potash Fertilizers Through Lithuania Will Not Be Resumed

The EU will extend sanctions against Lukashenko's regime.

Next week, the EU General Affairs Council "with 95% probability" will extend sanctions against Belarus for another year and "to the same extent as they are in force now," this opinion was expressed in an interview with LRT by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kiastutis Budrys.

When this happens, he believes, the issue of the possibility of resuming the transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers through Lithuania will be removed from the agenda.

The head of Lithuanian diplomacy also hopes that on February 23, the EU Foreign Affairs Council will approve the 20th package of sanctions against Russia in connection with the aggression against Ukraine, in which "some measures against Belarus will even be expanded."

"Thus, next week the topic of sanctions will be closed, we will put it aside," Budrys said. - We will focus on what the Belarusian side promised to the United States - to solve the problem with [balloons] [with smuggling from Belarus]. Let's see how the situation will develop further. The European Commission is taking new actions regarding our trucks, which are still detained. We have more than one issue that we are working on".
