The U.S. president announced 10% duties.

US President Donald Trump has announced the imposition of a 10% global tariff following the US Supreme Court's decision to strike down most of his duties. He made the announcement while speaking at the White House.

"Today I will sign an executive order imposing a 10% global tariff under Section 122 [of the Trade Act of 1974]," he said.

On February 20, the U.S. Supreme Court decided to strike down most duties on goods from U.S. trading partners imposed by Trump. According to the court's ruling, the US president is not authorized to impose duties on foreign countries based on the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).Thus, the duties imposed by Trump based on IEEPA, including the "mirror duties" he announced in April 2025, must be rescinded.
