The story of the captured Colombian is typical for foreigners who are recruited by Russia for the war. According to the detainee, he was promised "legal employment" and high wages in Russia. However, instead of civilian work, the man was immediately sent to the front line - to storm Ukrainian military positions.
How Russia manipulates foreigners:

legal blackmail: manipulation of migration documents.
The Kremlin's expendable material
The 152nd Brigade notes that the Kremlin systematically uses third-country nationals as "cannon fodder." A foreigner found himself in a war against Ukraine, with which he had no conflicts, becoming a victim of Russian propaganda.
"Promises turned out to be a trap. People are used as a resource, as expendable material," Ukrainian huntsmen emphasize.

It should be noted that this is not the first case of captivity of citizens of Colombia, Cuba or Nepal in the ranks of the Russian army. You bet, because of the shortage of its own mobilization resources, Moscow is increasingly looking for mercenaries in poor countries, where it is easier to hide the truth about the war because of the language barrier and lack of information.
It recently became known that Russia recruited more than a thousand citizens of Kenya to participate in the war against Ukraine. For this purpose, they used schemes to leave on tourist visas and promises of high salaries.
A foreign mercenary from the Philippines, who was fighting on the side of the Russian occupation forces, was liquidated in Donetsk region.
