On the night of February 22, a terrorist attack took place in Lviv. The explosions injured law enforcers and killed at least one policewoman.

At least two explosions occurred in the center of Lviv tonight, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing Telegram of Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy.

What preceded

There were at least two explosions in the center of Lviv. According to city council deputy Igor Zinkevich, the incident took place on Gospitalnaya Street near the Magnus shopping center. However, there was no alarm or threat in the sky for the region at the time of the explosions.

What local authorities and police are saying

According to Mayor Sadovy, what happened in Lviv was a terrorist attack.

"Lviv. It was a terrorist attack. Now 14 victims are hospitalized. Doctors are providing all the necessary assistance. Law enforcers and all relevant services are working," the report says.

Before that, the National Police of Ukraine officially confirmed that there are law enforcers among the dead and injured.

"The explosions occurred after the arrival of patrol police units to the call. All specialized services are working on the site. Details later," police said.

The Lviv regional prosecutor's office confirmed the explosions and is investigating the event as a terrorist act. According to the prosecutor's office, police officers arrived at the call, after which there were two explosions. Now it is known about the dead 23-year-old policewoman.

"Today at 00:30 to the number "102" received a message about the penetration into the store on street Danilishina, 20 in Lviv. Upon arrival at the scene of the patrol police crew, an explosion was heard. Upon arrival of the second crew there was another explosion. It is preliminarily established that a 23-year-old policewoman was killed. A patrol car was damaged, as well as a civilian vehicle. The number of victims is established," - stated in the note.

In the meantime, Mayor Andriy Sadovyy informs that the number of victims has increased to 15, they are being assisted. He also confirmed the death of a policewoman.
